Moroccan restaurants

While we ate far too many tangines, we experienced some very beautiful restaurants throughout Morocco. These are a few of the highlights:
The Red House in Marrakech was a magnificent building converted to a restaurant. We discovered it purely by chance and had a great evening listening to the music and watching the belly dancer.
As stock photo from Maison Arabe; not only a good place to eat but probably a good place to stay in the Marrakech medina
Maison Arabe http://www.lamaisonarabe.com/ was an extremely beautiful restaurant which we also enjoyed very in large part due to its beautiful environment with tables set around a pool within a very elegant, small riad. These file photos will have to do until I can find my pictures!
Dar Moha, also in the Marrakech medina is a highly rated restaurant with a celebrity chef
Dar Moha was another beautiful restaurant set out around a central pool where we spent Carol's birthday after drinks at the magnificent Hotel Mamounia. We highly recommend the starter of 14 Moroccan salads. The chef is a Morrocan celebrity.
In Tangier we went to the number one Tripadvisor restaurant, which turned out to be little more than a hole in the wall. The Restaurant Populaire was a far cry from the restaurants we had been eating in, but it was an experience. No menu....but soup, and a platter of fresh grilled fish from the adjacent market.
On our last evening we tried to book Al Fassia which many people suggested would be a good choice for a very good meal. But it was fully booked so on the recommendation of the owner of our riad, we went to Dar Yacout which was more of an experience than grand dining. It is housed in a grand old landmark Palace inside the medina.
Dar Yacout was magical inside and out. Just don't ask for a menu~there isn't one.
There is no menu. They take you up to the rooftop and bring you drinks. Then you are seated and far too much food is brought to your table by highly attentive staff. It's not great food, but the setting is magnificent and we all agreed it was a very special way to end our trip.
